JDS Architects : Le Passe Muraille

YouTube Preview Image

So today I went looking for a project by JDS Architects to post on, after yesterday’s article on BIG’s Scala project in Copenhagen. For those of you unfamiliar with the two firms, they used to be PLOT – before they split up – which was a product of OMA. That being said, I came across this installation that JDS designed/organized in New York City [currently being exhibited in Sao Paulo].

What is it, you ask? Le Passe Muraille : Inspired by a collection of short stories by Marcel Aymé in which the protagonist, Mr. Dutilleul, has the strange power of walking through walls, Julian De Smedt created an installation that allows viewers to experience crossing the New York city block they are facing – beyond the screen, beyond the gallery, beyond the courtyard behind, and all the way to Mercer Street [description from JDS].

My ninjas, PLEASE.

Watch the movie shown – then watch the rest [6 in total? I didn't want to have more than one here]. Check back in this weekend for an actual building by JDS – and until then, go take a look at their website, which is pretty siiick [both the projects and the interface].

Project Team:

Julien De Smedt
Benny Jepsen
Karin Bjosmoe
Mike Robitz

Programming:

Anders Emil Hansen
Thomas Jorgensen
