Recently completed by Blank Studio, the ‘Social Condensor’ is located in Superior, Arizona – at the base of the Superstition Mountain Range. The project is a renovation of an existing building, where an outdoor terrace was added. Inside, the first floor holds a kitchen and all of the building’s mechanical spaces – while on the second floor the existing South wall was removed to expose the volumes within, which have been transformed into a community gathering space.

The project was informed by the concept of the “ public house”. The project is envisioned to be the living room of the community; a place to congregate, socialize, view work of provincial artists and enjoy the breathtaking landscape vistas that envelop the region [via WAN].

The idea was to use a simple, cool-toned material palette – which would compliment the surrounding natural environment. The plan of the building [which I couldn’t find] apparently spirals the visitors around from the entrance, around the interior spaces, and reorients them towards a nearby creek and Apache Leap rock in the background.

Mostly I wanted to feature it because it looks like a 21st century fusion with something from the 60’s/70’s. Kind of ill tho…
