We the People…

This year the AIA Convention is coming to the Bean!

On behalf of the AIA and the Boston Society of Architects/AIA, we’d like to invite you to the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center in May to attend the AIA 2008 National Convention and Design Exposition.

In our first visit to the East Coast in almost nine years – and our first to Boston in 16 years – the AIA will host its convention in one of the most dynamic cities in America. And what a perfect place to immerse yourself in this year’s theme, We the People, which will explore the power of architecture on behalf of all people and society. It’s the right topic for a growing profession that has been challenged to engage the public in designing a more sustainable world.

The convention’s theme [as written above] is ‘We the People’, and is meant to imply both the architect’s important role in the community, and the responsibilities that are included:

“We are the people we serve and we live in the communities we have designed. We are the stewards of the safety and health of our children in their schools and our elderly in their places of care.” The theme resonates with the BSA’s focus on community and inclusiveness.

The convention will run from May 15th to 17th, and will include a number of speakers, awards, an exhibition hall, tours of the city, a movie marathon, parties and more. Check out the convention website or the host city website to learn about all the events.

  1. At the 2008 Boston AIA convention, a seminar was conducted by an excellent Interior Designer and she went so far as to attend autopsies to determine what, if any manifestations on the human body were present due to our man-made spaces. Can anybody recall her name and an email if at all possible?

    Thanks in advance.
